Statement Concerning Dimitri's Leadership Contest Application

Dimitri has issued the following statement concerning the status of his candidacy:

Today (May 26th), I received word that my application to run in the Green Party of Canada leadership race has not been accepted.

I have asked the party's anonymous vetting committee to explain its reason for not accepting my application.

I have appealed this decision. The appeal process will take seven days. Please stay tuned. This is but one more challenge on our long journey toward environmental and social justice.

The campaign will provide an update on this situation seven days from now.

This is shameful. Dimitri, I have tried to connect with GPC to express my disagreement with this situation, but can’t find a way to send a message. I ended up send a note through messenger, but if there is another way, please let me know.

Shameful. What are they afraid of? Integrity? Forthrightness? Courageous leadership? Appealing to thinking young people?

I hope they give you a reason and that it’s a convincing one. It must be very hard to conduct an appeal of a rejection that’s been left undefined. Come to think of it, it reminds of the situation of the Canadian security certificates for alleged terrorists. How could these men slapped with certificates appeal legal decisions when they were completely kept in the dark as to alleged facts?
